My Story
Sophia Loizos
Journalist & Explorer
For as long as I can remember, I have been driven by a deep curiosity for the world. Driven by some powerful, unseen force, I have made a habit of throwing myself into the deep end of life, committed to seeking out answers lying beneath the surface. At age 12, my room became a sanctuary for National Geographic magazines, maps, and adventure novels, fueling my desire to explore the world and experience its wonders firsthand. Towards the conclusion of my eighth-grade year, I embarked on a transformative journey, denoted by the acquisition of a turquoise journal, an instrument that would encapsulate my daily existence for three consecutive years. Around this time, I started packing Polaroid cameras and gopros into my backpack in an effort to capture my daily life events. As I sharpened my documentation skills, I began photographing the natural world and its beauty.
It wasn’t long after picking up my first camera that I found my first love - travel. Marrying my innate drive to document the world with cultural immersion became my muse. My work seeks to illuminate the beauty and awe of the world. I hope to inspire others to take the driver’s seat of their lives and create a version of life worth waking up to.
